Hi all,

I am looking to replace my Stern Gland and whilst at it the Cutlass Bearing on a Freeman 22. Just how difficult is this to do?

I am a bit of a novice at this kind of thing but feel if I don't have a go I am never going to learn.

Cheers Karl

They are two different jobs and difficulty depends on the detail design. If the stuffing box is on a hose then remove the assembly complete, re-pack the stuffing box and replace the hose with the correct type. The cutless bearing needs to be removed from its housing - it might be in a pbracket or a beaing housing screwed onto the stern tube. They are a press fit, but usually there is also a gub screw that stops them from moving.
