Sterling pro-charger 20 has stopped charging, and .....

started making a constant 'chattering' noise (relays?).

It's about 7 years old.

It's now switched off, but, any guesses: is it likely to be a viable repair job, or is it destined for the bin?

Bin it. Buy a Victron charger. I have the Victron Blue Smart IP22 charger, it's a great little charger, and the Victron app via Bluetooth is informative.

I fixed my Pro Charge Ultra by finding the two fuses, cleaning the contacts for the one that blew, and replacing the fuse.

This was after Charles Sterling repeatedly told me to “fit a bigger fuse until it doesn’t blow”.

If/when it does fail for good, I’ll be replacing it with a Smart Victron.

Thanks Richard1002 .... I'll try a spot of contact cleaning, and fuse changing, this afternoon.

If that fails, then, maybe, it's time to follow pvb and Richard1002's Victron tip.
