Whats in the stuff??
We keep a few in the fridge (for the builders) and the other day I fancied a beer so drank one.. Fatal!!! Normal tipple Shepherds Neame or Ringwood or wotever...
That night my arthritic left thumb was so painful that I got up and took a couple of Ibuprof.. wotsits so I could get to kip..
There was no other change in my diet.. So it has to be the Stella stuff.
Big Nick might know??
I'll stick to English beer, g & t, and Whisky (with or without the extra e) in future..
Cheers Bob E.....

It's actuall considered lousy beer in Belgium/Holland. In Holland the brand was replaced by 'Oranjeboom', equally lousy. It's the mainstream quality from the Belgium beer maffia (Interbrew)

Stella's the stuff that gives you a headache before you get Pi**** on it. It's also one of the most dehydrating beers ever- do you get gout in your arthritic thumb?? COuld possibly be that.

Well I admit I've had gout in one big toe in the past...
But wasn't on Stella at the time...
Both bl..dy painful .. Doc gave me tabs for the toe gout and it took a day or two to clear up.
This was almost instantaneous... within an hour or so.. The ibuprofen let me kip after a few mins tho'.
So I really think it was summat in the Stella that caused it..
This is not a boring medic forum but I'll just say I take cider vinegar and honey every day (with my breakfast umbrage) which, I think, helps the thumb!!
Cheers Bob E..

An Oz friend of mine who managed to wean himself off the stuff called it 'the wife-beaster', not because of his actions but he had seen so many young men get violent on a pint or two - much more so than on Oz or British beer

Some years ago I took a Transit over to France and bought back, amongst other alcohol, a whole pallet of Stella.
After drinking a few bottles on a nightly basis for a month or so I noticed it contaminated my body to the point where, in the nicest possible way, I began to smell. Gave the rest away to customers and went back to Fosters.

Well of course its brewed by Interbrew in Newprt Pagnal so its never been near Belgium or even France.

I complained via their web site about the quality and tried to draw them into some sort of discussion about the French/Belgium thing, naturally they refused to go down that route but sent me loads of free vouchers.

I always find that after drinking any canned/bottled beer or lager that I feel very out of sorts the next day.. sort of woosey and vague.. thats after only one or two bottles, so nothing to do with the alcohol.

I suspect there is so many chemicals in it that has the same effect as eating any mass produced crap foods. That is that we are not so slowly being poisoned or pickled from within.

As a matter of interest my wife has us living on an all most entirely 'organic' diet now, at no extra expense and very little extra effort...Can't say as I feel any better. But at least I dont feel worse!! I drink Scotch and fizzy water now instead of beer (except at the pub) and never feel crap the next day.

All best Nick

Best lager going either bottled canned or draught.

But then agin I drink Bishops Finger, London Pride, Ruddles, Youngs, Guiness but Stella is the only lager with taste

Hic.......... just off down the pub now" Jug of Pride, barman & 2 glasses thanks" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Stella art toss

As we used to call it was new to the UK when I first tried it at a friends 18th birthday piss up on a Saturday night.

As it was his 18th we started early and thought it would be a wheeze to drink 18 pints. This was an error. It's the only drink I've tried that made us think somebody
had turned the lights out but I was still concious.

I missed Sunday completely. Vomited in my sleep, which is a bad thing, and took till Wednesday to get straight. Now this was 32 years ago and to this day, if some one opens a can of it near me I have to leave the area. Nobody who was involved in the session has tried it since.

As an aside. Does anyone know why a pint or two of cider makes your piddle smell of apples????? Or is it just me? I mean, nothing else seems to have the same effect.

I've always considered Stella to be the best value in lager.

It gives you:

1 the meanest Headache of all

2 The dryest Mouth of all.

3 The runniest Nether Regions of all.

4 the most wind Nether Regions again.

& 5 it makes you fall over faster than most.

Personally I've made it my lifes work, to drink evey drop, to protect you lesser mortals from all that pain.

All contributions greatfully received.

Re: Stella art toss

There's actually quite afew things that make your wee smell of what you have eaten ,, most usual is the Sugar puffs smell after eating the same. Indian food is another of course, but thats only to be expected as it short circuits most of the bodies other organs ( stomach/ intestines etc.)

Re: Still a tosser

This started as a heady discussion and has now descended to an anal-piss stream.
Well, mirrors life really. Can't fault that.
