The "Rose Garden" of course!

Last night we had a fabulous meal at this much loved eating place. Effie's Loukaniko starter followed by her seasoned chicken breast: Out of this World!

I moored opposite the Rose Garden (near to the water ambulance/play park) when we visited there in May/June this year. I didn't eat there however I heard it was good.

I did like the small bakery behind the Rose Garden - nice fresh bread and pastries for breakfast the next morning.

We ate at 'Errikos' restaurant - twice in fact. Once for lunch and when we went back there toward the end of our stay we ate there again. Some of the best food in the area, in my opinion.

The fried courgette and baked cheese were fantastic.

Looking forward to going back again.

The Rose Garden is good but have you also tried Maria's in Fiscardo? Situated in the new square it serves (probably) the best pizzas we've ever eaten anywhere.

Don't like pizza and it's bad for my health. Now for a real treat in Fiskardo, I would recommend the Thai "Lord Falcon's" especially on a buffet night.

Heard from Stefano last week that Effie is introducing a new menu next month with lots of new dishes. Won't be back ourselves until post 23/08/13 to try them.

Stefano opened the Rose Garden in 1967. I made my first visit there in 1978 when the Porto Vathi was a coffee bar. Effie was younger then than her daughter is now. She and Hectoras who runs the supermarket to the left of the taverna were married in the church next to Errikos'

Stavro, in the right hand top corner of the quay does some fantastic fish at really good prices too.

Steve,

Great to know a little more about them. I bought some items from Hectoras the morning we left. Vathi is my favourite place in those parts - will have to try the Rose Garden next time, maybe for dinner after a lunch at Porto Vathi...
