stearing ram replacement on OD

apologies for not knowing the type of OD, yet

it may have links which need to be removed from the inside / engine bay area
i will find out this weekend and will then have to make a decision as to what to do next

obviously the engine can be taken out, expensive.

but can access holes not be cut into the transon ?
perhaps use a remote camera as well so the mechanic can see ?

speculate please.

Hard to answer well with such little info but I think few would consider cutting through the transom a good idea.
Assuming you are talking about the power steering ram then I was able to change one by removing a few engine components to allow access.
