I have pumped out via a fuel filter the 50 odd gallons of dirty diesel into containers. Will shortly move the tank so I can remove the inspection hatch to remove the remains inside.
I have a wallpaper steamer. Can this be used to clean the inside of the tank and if so how?

I cleaned mine out with a jet wash and soapy water, two or three times, by turning the tank you can get the knozzle through the inspection hatch into most corners and sides, then washed out with clear water, cleaned inside with thinners and then jet washed out with clean fresh water again.

BUT, make sure you dry the tank 100% before re-assembly.

No more problems since!

One tip is 'do not' do it on the lawn at home, the diesel will kill the lawn dead for months, been there and got the T shirt, well bill actually, from the missis for the new turf for the lawn!
