SWMBO and I have just done our Medical First Aid Aboard Ship and Medical Care Aboard Ship at The North East Kent College in Gravesend. Building a bit grotty but the lecturer was one of the best I've ever had.
I have recently done the 5 day basic safety training week at Warsash Maritime Academy - it was a little closer than Cowes and I'd heard it was good.
Training - it was probably the best course I have ever been on - the firefighting training was top class.. All the instructors knew their stuff but it was the firefighting that impressed me. Real fires, real equipment and a two storey blackened building with real (did I say real!) fires inside. The steps were so hot inside the building that the water sizzles and steams off them..
The sea safety part of it is then done using the swimming pool and liferafts at Andark Diving.
Paid for it myself and still think it was very worthwhile.
