Just went out today to warm up the engines for its oil change, but the stbd engine wouldn’t go above 1000rpm, the green drive light on the EVC control panel goes off showing its in gear. When the neutral button is pressed the engine run up to 1500 rpm as it should, any ideas ?
thank you
sorry forgot to say Penta D6-370 on out drives

Could be a fault with the gearshift actuator, its not registering that its in gear so the engine is limited. You could try recalibrating the shift lever, or if that doesn’t help swap the actuators over to confirm the fault. If the fault is the same with a different actuator then the shift cable most likely needs needs replacing

Thanks spannerman, I did switch the shift actuator over and had the same result. I think your right about the cable, but what I cant quite workout is why the prop is turning in fwd idle position
I'm going to go down again to the boat and manually shift the cable to see how it feels
thank you

If you mean you have selected forward but are still at idle then the prop should be turning, If you disconnect the gear wire from the actuator and then select forward with the lever, the actuator may then go full travel and then let the revs go above 1000, if it does this then its definitely the gear wire that is loading up the actuator.

Just been to the boat and disconnected the shift cable and the engine operates normally, the shift cable is very stiff to operate so it looks like a cable change. Thanks for the advice SpannerMan
