I have never cruised in the Med but have it in the back of my mind that it makes a big difference to berthing costs if your boat is a little less than 10 metres LOA, rather than a little more? Do marinas and other facilities charge incrementally by the metre rather than putting boats into categories i.e. 6-9.9m, 10-14.9m and so on? I may well be completely wrong on this.

We don't see many liveaboard boats <10m. You need to look at various marinas you're thinking of using as they vary. Some work on metre steps, others l x b, biggest jump is usually > 12m,

We live aboard our 9.1 metre boat and it does seem to be the case that mooring costs in the med our much less than for larger yachts. In the last couple of years we have cruised Spain, Balearics, France and Italy. You will see many references on this forum to "eye-watering" berthing charges in Italy. We have not found this to be the case for our boat and have found the rates to be much the same as France and Spain.

There is another major advantage in being under 10m which is that you can nearly always get a berth when the 12 and 15m berths are full. We never need to book ahead. It seems that many harbours have insufficient berths for larger yachts but plenty of 10m berths, often amongst the fishing boats.

My SSR quotes my boat length at 9.99 metres. The marina charges me for "up to 10 metre" which is a substantial saving on the + 10 metre cost. Nobody measures in my marina so all is well.

The marinas in NE Italy have bow-to/stern-to moorings typically at increments of 2m. My 31' (9.4m) motor-sailor occupies a 10m berth and usually the width is adequate for the average beam for that length. The vessels are not measured but are expected to fit into the paid-for berth without obvious pier overhang or extending substantially beyond the outer mooring posts.

Below is the price-list for my marina (Darsena, Aprilia Marittima) in metres, annual and daily, prices in euros. Below that is a photo of the marina basin. All berths have power and water outlets included in the price. There is also a very pleasant swimming pool area in well-tended grounds amongst pine-trees.

Just beyond that basin is the much more upmarket marina, Punta Gabbiani with quite exclusive facilities and slightly higher prices - see here.
