'Cos we're getting our shiny new boat. Finally the nice man at Opal marine rang us back yesterday and the deal was done! Sparked a long debate as we drove back from South Wales over boats name, some of the better ideas where:

Crash Bandicoot (next boat could be called Crash Bandicoot 2 etc etc)

PSone (next boat could be called PS2 geddit?)

Lady of the seas????

Dualshock

Hawkesnest Beach (After where we got married. Island of St John)

Banana Mama or Sex on the Beach (Cocktails we drank after we got married???)

A rather rude derogatory message to users of a certain forum (Steve's idea and one I dare not type! PM's please)

Suggestion would be greatfully received.

.....just when u thought it was safe 2 go back in the water......150104.....judgement day!

I'll probably be antifouling or rewiring or plumbing by January, but I hope you make the most of the quietest time of the year in Chi harbour.

Re names, "Sex on the beach" sounds fun but it won't help the harbourmaster keep a straight face when you call up and ask for a berth. Maybe "Plage d'amour" ?
Or why not "Porquois-pas?" (geddit?)

Have fun

Congratulations!

Did you go for the Bav 38? What happened about the nasty price hike?

I believe there are some boring restrictions on names, in order to get her registered. Nothing obscene, nothing confusing (eg HMS or MAYDAY), not too long. Trickiest is that if you want part 1 registration, which used to be required for a marine mortgage, it can't be the same as any other vessel ever registered. People put the home port in the name to get round that, so it could end up being 'Sex on the Hamble'.

How about 'Scuttlebutt'?

I checked on the MARS database and it looks like it might be available on the UK part 1 register!

Kim would have to let Steve back with a name like that!

Good luck with the new boat, very exciting

Re: Congratulations!

I think if the vessel has sunk, you can have the name, but who would want it!! also if it's been scrapped, which is a bit better.

We've gone for the Bavaria 38 twin aft, a boat we'd looked at several times after Moody stopped making the '38 and after reading several complimentary reviews, not least in YM. It answered all our questions with reguard to size (We have two growing monsters) and came in within our budget......and it's shiny!
