Ok, I've raided the ships stores and found a carton of wine. One of those dodgy milk carton style table wines that moodysabre introduced me to before he started on the whiskey in oostende.

I just thought I'd post something that wasn't problem related and on a positive note. Chatting to you lot, albeit over the internet, keeps me sane while sat on my own in the middle of nowhere next to a dredger. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

My blog is about 3 days away from reaching 30,000 visits, and it's seeing over 400 views per day now. That's actual site views, not page hits. Considering I was surprised when my drivel attracted a total of one thousand hits last year I am quite amazed by this.

I also got an email this morning from a magazine's online division who are interested in running a feature on my video series. I should probably not mention the name of said institute, but it's one that ever aspiring photographer dreams of being published in. I can't imagine I'll earn anything out of it, but it's nice, amazing even, that they consider my escapades worthy viewing.

Also, I got an email back from the Ellen MacArthur Trust's CEO today. I decided that since I'm getting all this attention, albeit totally unexpected, it would be selfish of me to not try and use it for good, so I'm going to be try to raise some money for them via the blog. I was looking for a charity to support, then thought the corribee relation would make that one quite apt. I sort of had an idea of what they did, but after reading up on it, I'm absolutely convinced that I want to try and help.

All in all, this trip is turning into something I never, ever imagined. I was just going to quietly make my way around to Preston and then find a job and continue as normal, but it seems you can't even sail around britain singlehanded these days without drawing attention to yourself /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Of course, the attention has now extended the destination. I don't feel like I can stop in Preston anymore so I'm determined to go all the way, even if i do have to winter there to refloat my finances.

The irony is, once I do get back to the crouch (the place where I felt the trip began proper), I'm still left with the problem of having to get my boat back to Preston... so this might be one and a half times around. lol.

Don't think we have ever been accused of being sane, but good for you Nathan, keep plugging away at it and beat each problem over the head with a soggy kipper, works for me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well done - nice to read of someone doing something with no idea of the interest it would create and trying to raise the profile of a charity and not all self, self. Now I would suggest that is why the folk around here have taken to you. Does this make me sound like some old duffer? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Where is Preston anyway? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

"Does this make me sound like some old duffer? "

Yes, but you aren't wrong!

Preston??.......You really do not want to know! The place should be called Depreston! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Above Southport, and below Glasson docks. Up the river Ribble, to the marina at Preston Docks. A lap of honour around the docks, then a pontoon, with shore power. One of my best friends is getting married next month and I am supposed to be an usher, if I can actually get there in time.

Best pull out a digit then.......Maybe a quick dash through the Caley........No more poodling about with the mucky buggers on the east coast.....you need to get into Vikingr mode! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You need to get out more

Where the M6 used to end.

Back in my yoof, when I used to build and fly model planes, I met the first person to ever work on a motorway in Britain. He had to mow the grass to the surveyors could scope out the stretch of M6. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
