Started friends 2 x above earlier, would not suck water.

They were in a tank, all holes the the front of the outdrive in water, but the exhaust was not.

Should there be any issues? Ie. No back pressure.

Just thought id ask before looking further.

Also, one intercooler drain plug missing. Tried to swap over but wouldn't thread in. Didn't seem like a previous crossthread as it wouldn't even try to bite. Looks the same plug as my kad300. Presume these drain plugs are universal? Wondering if previous owner did some botch job....

I’d try filling the strainers with water first. The pumps probably won’t prime from such a low water level otherwise.

Tried filling the strainer first but no joy.

Makes perfect sense about the water level being too low though as when in the water the water would almost be level with the strainer

Disconnect the water intake hose and shove a garden hose in it?

After spending some time putting them on, we're not eager to do that... we'll just stick her in the water next week to test (we have a lifter, so not an issue to drop / hold on slings / pull out again (if needed) .... we were just eager to get her fired up today (she fired up fine!)

On my AQD set up the strainer/ filters were well above the waterline perhaps a metre.Critical that lid has good seal and pipes connecting strainer it are 100% firmly connected..
If new impellors and no wear on raw water pump facing plate(if worn you can reverse it) then either blockage ( heat exchanger/oil cooler ?) or air leak.
Thought of removing impeller, connecting a hose pipe to transom plate and back flushing ? merely to see if any thing comes out, by way of water and/or debris.
Not that hard to lift raise leg undo water pipe and push hose over spigot. fortunately both are about same size.

I run the same engine using an outboard muffler which worked ok. Just make sure you start the engine and then turn on the water pressure and turn of the water before cutting the engine to avoid flooding it.

9/10 it won’t work on these legs. Even putting a hose in an open strainer won’t work. The strainer lid needs to be closed to pull water. Might work with the hose down the pump side of the strainer and tightly fitted.
