spent a whole week getting boat ready for a trip to the solent, engines serviced, new prop, fresh anti fowl,
new p bracket bearings, new water pump.! loaded boat for a whole week in the solent.
start no 1 engine great. start no 2 engine, nothing, starter motor gone, looks like windings are burnt out.
any one know a good place to get a new one cheap, or even better a second hand one.
its a 1407 i believe the lucas part no is lrs 189.

Worth getting it to an autoelectrician if you can as repairs , if possible, should be a lot less than buying a replacement.


Good autoelectricians ( Curd Bros) in Tunbridge wells. Only just up the road from Eastbourne .....well nearer than npf1's suggestion in Reading anyway.

Edit: Vara's suggestion looks like the first place to try!

Earnest Doe of Ulting near Maldon in Essex were selling starter motors on a special deal 2 months ago
I had a problem with my mini digger & had it re wound locally because I thought it would be too old or expensive to get a new one- There are a lot of alternator rewind specialists who would do it
Annoyingly I walked into Does & there was a brand new one of the correct model sitting on the counter with a notice saying special offers on starter motors
