Actually an option that may be open to you is to get your defective alternator repaired and converted to negative earth operation at the same time. Perhaps that's your intention anyway

My alternator died at the end of the season so decision to go ahead has been made for me, my new alternator choice will depend on which one I find at the scrappies that are plentiful and wont take much modding lol, it's an old lucas so tractor or ford pinto look promising
