Starter motor rebuilder recommendation please

What kind of engine? Are you happy to remove it yourself?

If so, then I reckon a decent auto electrician might be your best bet.

(OK, he might look at it and ask "1995 VW van?" or something like that ;-)
 
Not near enough...

I got my Yanmar (Hitachi) starter done locally (nr. Burton on Trent).

Yanmar quoted 475 pounds...! Little workshop apologised it would be 24 hrs and quoted 20 pounds to rebrush and clean and check.

More apologies when I collected- 'Sorry, it went over price' (me panicking.)

Sure you can find similar local to you but ask if you want to mail order it to my guy and I'll dig out contact details.

That's what I am after! Would appreciate the details anyway if you can. I will try to find somewhere locally if I can, but do go to BuT on business.
 
Altenator Repairs Christchurch

Hi

If you are prepared to deliver it to Christchurch there is a one man business just up the river from the Sailing Club and next door to the Rowing Club. He rebuilds motors, altenators and dymo's I think he looks after many of the boats on the river as well as auto's. He has fixed a couple for me, the last one was new bearings and brushes for £40.

A repairer in Derbyshire is not very handy when you are in the Solent area.

However a recent thread on alternator repairs mentioned an Auto electrician in the "Old Dairy workshops" at Westbourne ( Nr. Emsworth)

I am sure there must be others in the area that Yell.com can find.

(Curd Bros in Tunbridge Wells have a good reputation ... For anyone in that area)

I have just done this same search. The guy l have used before and yesyerday is based in a shed in Westbourne, near Emsworth. Very good, will do starter motors, alternators etc and very good value. Just done my 70 amp and put in new regulater and cleaned all bushes etc, £49 all in.
