My rooller furling is extremely hard to roll in anything exceopt vthe lightest winds - you really need to winch it. It has been lubricated in the correct places but no difference. Is this correct? any theories?

Which brand is it?
You could try winding a bit of extra line on the drum, effectively increasing its diameter and thus the purchase.
Is your headsail luff tight? On some models slackening that off (which you should do when putting the boat away for the week anyway) can free things up a bit.
