I have an old, non DSC, Standard GX2310 UK, VHF radio. It's probably 20 years old, and is extraordinarily simple to operate. To select, or de-select channels for scanning, you just go to the required channel, and press the "R/D" button.

Previously, the radio would remember which channels I wanted to scan, but since just recently, it's memory only lasts for a few hours, and not over-night.

Apart from obvious comments about old age and forgetfulness, this suggests that somewhere in its little workings, there lurks a battery, which, after 20 years, is possibly past its best.

Does anyone here have any knowledge about this. It will be quite tricky to extricate the radio from its mounting, so if I knew what kind of battery was required, it might save me from having to do it twice.

PS. I do also have an Icom DSC radio, but much prefer the old one.

In the owners manual there is a diagram which shows what looks like a soldered in battery on the board. Unfortunately this probably will make it a bit harder to swap. There was no info on which battery was in there but they usually have the number on them.

Have you tried calling standard horizon for support? If you're near Winchester you may be able to pop in and have them replace it.
Cheers
Dave

Thanks for your reply, Dave. I have tried Standard Horizon, but they have no knowledge re such an old radio. Thanks for your link to the Owner's Manual. I'm not sure from the drawing, where the battery is, but at some suitable time, I'll open it up and have a look at it, and see if I can do something with it.
