I'm just about to install this chartplotter in my cockpit, I have a couple of questions. Should it come with a rubber seal for cockpit mounting? If not do I use some Sikaflex?

Also, should it start up without a card in, when I power up the unit it flashes and beeps please wait software loading but this continues indefinately.

I'm using a 12v plug adapter to test the unit so it could be a voltage/current issue? Or maybe I just need to insert a c-map card?

Many thanks

I fitted a CP180 in the cockpit so presumably the same things apply. It didn't come with any form of seal so I made one from some rubber sheet. The CP180 does start up without a card, locates satellites etc. and just shows the rather imprecise default map that it has built in. It will take a while to locate satellites for the first time but loading the software shouldn't take very long. Given that it states 'Loading Software', then presumably the power supply is OK, in which case maybe a defective unit?

There's a "feature" in the SH CPs that causes its RAM to corrupt after a long time unused. (The self charging internal batteries go flat). The trick is to hold down any key and press the start button. It then starts with another menu structure. Choose the reset RAM option. Then switch-off an restart normally.

Caution - resetting the RAM destroys any memorised settings and waypoints, routes, etc.. Not an issue if you have only just got the unit.

Good luck.
