Standard Horizon CP180: No Data?

My boat partner has just reported that the Standard Horizon CP180 is saying "No Data". I'm not sure what screen he is on, or what stage of the power on sequence this is (I'm checking), but has anyone had this?

Sounds like it isn't reading the data cartridge.
Turn it off, take the cartridge out, clean the contacts and give it another go.

Hmm - normally it would display inbuilt base maps - No Data sounds like it isn't getting the GPS feed (CP180i has integral GPS) - worth checking the connections on the back?

I had the same problem with a CP300i. Just before packing the unit to send back to the supplier I read the manual and found a routine for resetting the RAM and reinstating factory defaults. I gave it a go and the unit worked fine thereafter - although all the data I had programmed such as way points etc had been wiped. On reflection - my problem started when I removed power rather than shutting down correctly which I guess leads to strange happenings in any computer.
