Standard Horizon CP180 Flush Mounting: need pictures

Hi, I think that I have found the answer. The original CP180 had the recessed back and the later models have the rectangular protrusion. I think that the change was in preparation for the release of the CP190i, there is no CP190, which has the 'new' back.

Nigel,

I have the original type with external GPS. I have flush mounted it on a perspex plate. I cut a large circular hole which I then squared off for where the mounting bracket protrudes, and two smaller holes for the cable entries - more or less as per the red dotted lines of your original diagram (the "old" template?).

I've just been sent some fixing screws FOC by Standard Horizon. I note that they are M4 with threads on both ends and a hex section between, as shown in the image in Post #4.

Surely these will prevent the unit from mounting flush if the specified 4.5mm holes are not enlarged to accommodate the hex section?
Fitted a CP180 flush last year, did have to enlarge the screw holes in the panel slightly. I'd have preferred the CP180i but the stub antenna at the back stops easy/waterproof flush mounting. Had to make up a little bracket to hold the mushroom inside the console behind the unit, works perfectly despite being inside a GRP console.

When I did my SH300, I replaced the supplied bolts with standard bolts with a nut and washer, so didn't enlarge the holes. Never worked out the function of the hex section.

I think I fitted the screws the other way around, with the nuts wound on first so there was thread protruding, fitted screws from behind panel and then wound down nuts. But I had good access as I have a removable panel (to take off over winter).
