Standard Horizon and RAM mic wiring

Hi,
Anyone know what the type of plug is on the end of the extension lead?? Item that mounts onto your console that you then plug the mic into... The pins have corroded and I want to replace the socket not the whole lead!!

I also needed to replace my connector. I broke off one of the pins on the mic end of the extension lead ;-(. I couldn't convince myself to shell out $65 for a new lead. Noticed the embossed label ALTW on the connector. This is the company logo for Amphenol LTW. This is a very big Taiwan company that makes hundreds of electrical connectors. The 10 pin connector in question is one of their circular connectors, part number CD-10BFFM-SL6AXX. This is the version of the connector with cable. They also make one without a cable that can be soldered CD-10PMMP-SC7001. You cannot purchase directly from Amphenol but you can from Mouser Electronics. I just order placed my order for $6 plus shipping. Connector is on back order but available.

I haven't actually verified this but I suspect that Amphenol LTW also makes the 8 pin connector at the VHF end of the extension lead.

Wow, great that you found one for sale.... I even ended up speaking to Amphenol, UK, and they were not even able to supply one, as they have none, and would have to run up a batch of 100!!

I ended getting hold of a new cable cut the wire off (as I couldn't run the plug through the pipework) and soldered all the leads back together at the binnacle....

Turns out the not only the lead was at fault, as there is also a fuse in the main unit that also blew... :-(

So spoke to Standard Horizon in the UK, who were amazing.... They identified that it was probably the fuse... Sent me the circuit diagrams and even sent me 3 replacement fuses, and more importantly a good luck note.... Reason being this is not for the faint hearted... The fuse is a surface mount device that is only about 1mm long end to end.... Soldered on the new fuse, and everything works like a dream....

The support conversation alone, means that I will probably buy Standard Horizon in the future.

Excellent piece of gear............as is the handheld that came free with their chartplotter in 2008, Battery still 100%
