Does anyone know how to tighten a stanchion base. At present there is grub screw that presumably holds the vertical stanchion for the railings around the deck. There are no other visible fixings. If I loosen the grub screw and remove the vertical stanchion I can only assume that the base will either unscrew or there might be some sort of fixing within the base itself ? Has anyone had experience of this ?

Some stanchion bases have a threaded bolt or two straight down out of the base, with a nut to tighten from below. If a single bolt it could be screwed into a tapped metal plate glassed into the hull, but I would hope it would still have some kind of locking nut underneath.
