Hi, looking for help pls .I am after 2x old gunmetal stanchion bases.
I'm looking for something well weathered. Thanks

The first place I'd look would be the Barge, at Bursledon: Chandlery Barge | sells new, secondhand and redundant chandlery

They aren't as cheap as I think they should be, but they must be worth a call

Seawater is pretty effective. It’s readily available too.

You might also try Marine Bazaar in Plymouth - I can't find any other website for them, but they have a Facebook page so presumably you could send them a pic there.

Liver of Sulphur is very good for adding patina quickly, used it a good bit on copper and brass, not sure what the proper chemical name is but it is readily available

According to Wikipedia:
Liver of sulfur is a loosely defined mixture of potassium sulfide, potassium polysulfide, potassium thiosulfate, and likely potassium bisulfide. Synonyms include hepar sulfuris, sulfur, sulfurated potash and sulfurated potassa.

Exposed to sea water they will turn that colour pretty quickly; they would have been shiny when the boat was new.
