as most cleaning products are quite pricey i thought it best to get it right 1st time and ask you for your best cleaners on the following stains, see the pics too.
orange water stains on fiberglass, general scummy vinyl and also the shadow left by old decals on the hull?

is there one product that will get rid of all 3 problems or do i need a few?

Oh God... i almost didn't post this reply... but I can't help myself... yup, once again I would use Cillit Bang grime & lime on both these stains. Spray on, work a bit with a washing up type brush, leave for a minute and wash off... should be as good as new... and only cost a couple of quid unless on offer then sometimes a quid.....:o

for yellowing stains on hull, Y10 is pretty good stuff;

Even cheaper than Y10 is you own homemade solution of oxalic acid, mix with water and spay onto hull using empty cillit bang bottle. Buy it off the internet, ebay, cost a few quid and will last forever.

ok, this was 6hrs of cillit bang grime and lime scrubbed/left to soak refresh scrubbed left to soak, blah blah.

worth the £1.50 but bloody hard work. it is more of a rust mark than a water mark but i was hoping for a better/easier result.

i think if i cant live with the stain that i have left i will try y-10.

mmmmm, cillit bang failed, I will write to them at let them know. But in fairness that rusty mark looks like it has been there a few years, perhaps oxalic acid will be the answer, something to really burn that rusty mark out the GRP...

oxalic seems very hard to find, not in tescos not in the chemists not in buildbase, not in B+Q.
i think maybe the local swimming pol chemical people may do it, i might stick my head in there tomorrow.

The product I use is called WipeOut for boats, it contains Oxalic acid and is in a powder form where you apply with a wet or just damp cloth. I bought it about 10years ago and still on the original container. I use it every year and it removes oil stains, rust and green stuff very quickly, talking minutes not hours. I am pretty certain it will remove the rust stains you have without too much effort.

The downside, I've just had a look on the internet and it is no longer available, HOWEVER, it has been replaced by Riptide Wipe Clean which is the same product.

Not tried it on vinyl and think it would be too harsh for that, instead I used those "magic erasers" type foam.

tap into ebay oxalic acid, bingo, loads of hits, not expensive
i got some from local high street chemist
would have thought wessex chemical factors could help too
good luck

Shetland 536 - couple of secondhand tips for you.

When cleaning the decks add a some washing up liquid to the mix - you can see where you've been and it doesn't run off as easily.

When cleaning the hull sides add some wall paper paste to give you a thick gloop. Just don't let this dry out as it then needs a proper scrub to remove. You also need to keep the mix off your antifoul as it will mark this - I do my hull before the new coat of antifoul goes on.

It's quite potent stuff so keep it off your skin and make sure you wear hand and eye protection.

I've tried a few things on rust marks, not found oxalic acid very effective on shiny surfaces but very good on fabrics. For rust marks the only thing I've found that works is Y10

Perhaps, if so it could be that it is suspended in gel that makes it work? Chineshine I believe also contains oxalic acid, this too works better than my attempts to use it plain.

Another vote for Y10. It's oxalic acid in wallpaper paste, about a tenner for a little pot from most swindlers.

I've never found Y10 any good, I tried it again last weekend and it wasn't that effective, however when I used Wipeout the marks were gone in minutes. Both products have Oxalic acid.
