My mild steel diesel tank has sprung a leak - rusted through at the bottom.
Do I replace with stainless steel or placstic?
Can anyone recommend someone in the Crouch area who can fabricate a replacement in stainless steel?
Any comments Re: plastic tanks e.g. Vetus, would be appreciated.
Thanks.

And since it's translucent I can always see how much diesel is in the tank.

I would have thought that to be a fairly major benefit !

Only one I know is Ron Canning, but he is :
a) very busy
b) lives in a delivery time warp

I would recommend tek tanks, very professional.

Hi
Not on the Crouch but I used Mistan Fabrication who are near Wattisham airfield in the wilds of Suffolk.
We had our mild steel day tank on our last (steel) boat replicated in stainless by them and the tolerances needed to be exact due to steel ribs and supports - and they were. All the fittings for inlet, outlet, drain, breather and sight gauge were spot on too.

You could try Ken Wickham, he does a lot of the stainless fabrication for the Roach Sailing Association, of which he is also a member. He owns an engineering company. I will get his contact details and PM them to you.
