Stainless steel bolt packs

I like the review of the Screwfix kit:
"nutz unt boltz.23 Aug 2012By hunz (read all my reviews)
, in cornwall"very gute idtem to have around zer hous. ve are very pleazed mit it. tanks a lot. vill uze you agin.""

I get my bits and bobs from Danlet in Huddersfield. I got 4 different lengths of M8 stainless bolts with washers and nuts for about £2.50 when I was fitting a toilet recently.

So showing my ignorance..I take it A2 is rather a no no for sea water, or is that too simple. Will it do or is it advisable to shell out for A4. I only ask as I can pop into screw fix and get a selection box of A2 any time...but i'd prefer the RIGHT nuts and bolts if A4/316 is the right way to go.

Oh and thankyou to everybody for your replies. Very helpful

Tim

A4 (316) has 2% molybdenum that gives it improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance over A2 (304). Otherwise they may well have the same composition, 18/8 chromium/nickel, although better 316 sometimes has more like 20/10. Pitting is not going to be a great problem on deck fittings but crevice can be. Bed all bolts in sealant to prevent water entry.
