Easy question, new flagstaff on a ‘peche promanade’, stainless or mahogany. Roughly the same price so purely aesthetic.

Surely, her-indoors is the correct person to ask?

If its permintally rigger stainless if its demountable mahogany.

Even through I do lots of stainless steel fabrication I made mine from a scrap of mahogany and only mount it when on passage. Otherwise it hangs under my solar panels in a protected area of my solar granty.

Looks good. It interesting how tube is tapered.

Is yours taperd all the way along of just a part at the top end.

I designed a machine to taper stainless and mild steel tube many many years ago.

There is a s/s staff on the bottom in Breskens marina. If you find it, it belongs to a friend who has since sold the Island Packet it came from. They were on board near us and asleep when they heard a noise, which turned out to be a couple of 'revellers' nicking things. In the rush to escape my friend's wrath the staff ended up in the water.

I prefer mahogany. I've got to have something to varnish in the spring, and there is only the staff and the tiller.
