Now that's very useful to know, thanks. There used to be a guy with a similar name in the industrial estate behind Sainsburys at Fareham but when I went there a few months ago he'd gone. I don't know if he's just moved to a new location or whether it's someone else, but it's very useful to know as the chap I regularly used at Waterlooville has now retired.

The chaps at Solent Welding made me an awesome anchor chain channel - from a cardboard model, and it wasn't expensive either!

I’ve just used Solent Welding for several jobs. Reasonably priced and excellent service. They even removed a dent from a winch I’d bought on eBay.

I have listened a lot about solvent welding. it is also not pricy and at the same time provide excellent service. but how much it is helpful for removing dents. can u please explain to me.

If I talk about solvent welding would I be accused of using inflammatory language?

To answer your question seriously, my experience is that Solent Welding are a friendly and efficient machine shop that specialises in all sorts of steel and stainless steel fabrication.

Regarding dents: I had a winch that I'd bought on eBay. The courier company had dropped it and dented the skirt of the base of the winch body so that it wouldn't even rotate on the base. Fortunately it was only the skirt of the drum that was dented and not the gear teeth inside. I took it to Solent Welding and asked if they could try and knock the dent out and they succeeded. Hence my comments. I don't think it's the sort of work they normally do but being a handy machine shop it was an interesting little challenge that they took on. I mentioned it as an example of their helpfulness..
