Stack pack stolen - Chichester harbour

Arrived on the boat today to find the main sail tied to the guard rails , the reefing lines cut and the stack pack stolen. They were either very considerate thieves or a kindly neighbour secured the sail. Location Mill Rythe, CJ Marine stack pack in Bergundy, approx 10ft long. Sadly no markings on it other than the CJ Marine logo - didn't even cross my mind to get one with the boat name on it until now.

I have had a mooring near there for 35 years and I'm amazed, commiserations on your misfortune.

I've heard of burglaries on boats but never something like this; I wonder if it's worth your while keeping an eye on E-bay ( the police won't do anything useful ).

It strikes me this must have been a theft with a target customer in mind, if not responsible !

Completely. Was off to Bembridge with the family for the weekend. No doubt it will take a few weeks to sort out a replacement so more weekends lost. Not a happy bunny
 
As I said in post #2, this strikes me as a ' made to order ' theft by or for the market of someone with a similar boat, sadly.

Probably a fair distance away from the OP ?
 
Sorry for your loss, Ba****ds. Noticed on the kraken bulletins that their have been a few thefts in Emsworth Chichester Littlehampton recently might be worth speaking with them to inform them of your loss. Sounds like specific target theft or to order, unlikely to appear on E bay but worth watching anyway, ditto with any jumbles coming up think there is one in Sussex soonish? A couple of year ago had some boat gear taken so now mark everything up, at least if it goes it has a chance of being identifed and recovered.
 
It never even occured to me that someone might steal a stack pack, but when you think about it they can be more pricey than a plotter! Sorry to hear about your loss, hopefully you'll be sailing again soon.
