Stable Boats When Aground

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

There is far better forum software out there ...... fact.

I do not know why anyone is trying to make this a personal issue. I simply pointed out that i could not see the photo then i could and bang ... we are away with point scoring and off subject.

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

Conectivity includes multiple points of failure. You cannot claim the ybw server is down just because you cannot connect. It's working fine from here. The photo link also works fine, so no problems on the ybw front from here.

Onwards and upwards dear fellow, just find a nice 5 year old who's doing computing at skool, I'm sure a wealthy fellow like yourself with so many multi million pound websites can find some decent tuition somewhere, even in the wilds of Brecon

Back to the subject at hand...

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

Wiggo
Wheretoflyfish.com was abandoned by the company and is not a supported web site. So when servers were changed, it was not moved over. Its a bit unfair to mention a site that has been abandoned.

There are forums in this world with huge amounts of traffic dwarfing this forum that are far better. However it is not the technical stuff that makes a forum, although it helps, its the people on it.

I am sure Kim is aware of the drawbacks of this forum software.

I have dozens of sites working the names of which every one of you would instantly know and they turn over many millions of pounds. I do know what I am talking about but please let us get away from this personal stuff and back onto subject of the thread.

Brendon
For gods sake stop it.

As it happens I have all sorts of trace software through every link back to the origanl firewall/server. We provide ISP services to many multi-national companies and have all sorts of facilities that you are really ignorant of. You really do not appreciate what you are talking about but are just determined to get personal and off subject.

There you go again a personal attack - its the same on the Hull Challenge thread last night .... you just cannot desist from trying to ridicule others. Please go and get a life.

I now know no matter what thread I participate in or start there are a few of you out there who just cannot resist turning it into your own personal vendetta rather that stick to boating and have a discussion on subject.

As do I!

and which facilities would these be? I work in IT, so am familiar with most of them. Would you care to list them, just so that I'm up to date.

Gludy, you bring these things on yourself. It's not a personal attack, you just assume ignorance on behalf of others

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

Brendon
After your incredable post on another thread Stability Challenge) with me last night it just seems you are determined to take issue and ridicule at the slightest opportunity. Any petty excuse would be used.

In this case I simply mentioned that a photo link was not working and commented that I think this forum software is a step back from what we had before eg it does not send the emails. This you take to be an issue to become personal about!!!!!

I now have the choice of being drawn into an ongoing personal debate totally off subject or just to ignore you and your petty ways.

In answer to your question I do not intend to spend my time educating you!

You were the one who assumed ignorance Brendon ...

you kicked of with
"Tee hee. I personally love the way the forum software gets blamed for operator error "
Yet it was under any basis clearly not an operator error!

Can you please desist from responding to my posts or mentioning me and I will do the same for you, then no one else can suffer these silly posts.

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

You mean like this one? If it's a old site no longer supported, then why the heck isn't it just taken off the internet, instead of wasting people's time

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

Just use the new system and put me on ignore?

You were the one who said he was sitting on a T1 backbone and knew more about internet, traces etc. Most people who know me, know I actually know a little about this stuff, so won't back down on this one. Just because you couldn't connect to a picture, doesn't mean the site is down, far more likely to be a connectivity problem at your end, given that the rest of us can see the picture

For god's sake, get down off your high horse for once, and treat the forum with some respect, as the rest of us do. Your opinion is as welcome here as everyone else's. Just don't assume that no one understands issues you think only you understand. You might own a few domain names and branded sites, but that doesn't make you a technical whizz kid

Tee Hee /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The only rule is , "if it offends it's not funny"
PS. after reading one of your replies last week I have changed to Avast, it's great thanks!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

Brendon
What do you think you are doing?

You are really getting so personal and petty.

The subject you are trying to dicuss here is an issue as to why a company that I have no executive control over chooses to leave the page of an old web site up. A site that is not advertised nor supported....... do you think this is a subject for this forum?

Please try the link again:-

I hope you are pleased with what it now says!!!

You are clearly more interested in point scoring and just determined to hound me. That must be clear to any impartial observer viewing this thread.

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

Brendon
You were the one who claimed it was operator problem not a connectivity problem!!!

You had to be told it was a connectivity problem!!!

But then facts or what you say does not matter to you does it ... was I putting words in your mouth when you stated this of with a claimed operator problem or were you just trying to as always score?

You are the one on the high horse all I am doing is trying to discuss boating problems rather than pander to your ego.

You seem to a be bit jealous if anything but no matter what it is you need to calm down and maybe lay on a couch somewhere to get rid of the burden of issues that are obviously inside you.

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

Well, you don't seem to wish to show me how your traces and other connectivity tools are better than mine, so back to the subject I guess....I think tcm said it all. It's doable, with care

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

Phew, thank god for that. Thought I'd stumbled onto an internet geek's forum - my worst nightmare !!!

Anyway, I'm a scaredy-cat and wouldn't dare to dry out, even with legs, unless I'd seen what the bottom was like at low water.

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

I think I will probably adopt scardy cat tactics as well!

It seems there is really no difference in dryoing out in a 20, 30 or 60 footer - just need longer ans stronger legs.

After my initail concerns I am becoming more relaxed about it but my hear will be in my mouth when I actually come to do it. ... no do not take that comment any further :-)

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

That's what I'd say about the debate which followed my humble pic problem! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I gave up before reading all the posts!....
But I didn't want either the forum or Kim's team to be blamed (sort of) with no reason.
Therefore I dug into this problem a bit.
Apparently, my provider restricts the access to the pic (guess it's the same with any file) when it's referenced from another site. But it does show the result when directly clicking the URL.
Probably, the reason why occasionally the pic is visible also in the original post is that after opening the link, the image is saved in the browser's cache, therefore when the page of the original post can find it locally, it shows it, without the need to access the original site.
I reckon that I had a similar problem in the good old days, when I had to use another site to post my avatar.
Though at that time the issue didn't start a holy war!!!...
...we should all spend more time at sea, and less at the keyboard, probably... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Gludy\'s not gonna like this

I started boating 25 years ago in the Bristol Channel and dryed out in the nautical sense on many occasions! As you say the idea is that the weight is taken by the keel and the legs are merely to stop you falling over ( again in the nautical sense ). I would however recommend that you had a stainless strip on the bottom of the keel to protect it from any minor nasties.
