Stabilising Bimini top...... Ideas ASAP please!

There has got to be a better way than this...

The idea is to stop it wobbling around when it is stowed at the same time keeping the webbing to a minimum, as is its going to be a nightmare when trying to fish, i can just see me getting tangled up as it is.

Outside as we speak (19:00) trying to solve this problem, needs to be resolved tonight as going out tomo!

We normally put a short brace between the rear uprights and a point that is inboard.

That's a great solution but I have nowhere to attach the struts to the boat?

Its in the way for fishing that way... this is a nightmare... probably beige a little fussy tbh

If you're just going fishing and you won't put it up, why not take it off for now ?

By the way, stand your VHF antenna upright, it reduces range laid back.

Quite possible that you are, tbh.

My son regularly trolls with a boat rod that lives in a holder attached to the outside of the starboard part of the pushpit (there is another one on the port side). When the reel starts screaming he lifts the rod out of the holder, stands with it between the rear upright and the backstay (which you don't have) and plays the fish until he can lift it out over the transom. He is just over 6-feet tall and has no problem.

The only way to know is to try it out. Better than those two straps that you have at present, for sure, because in your case you will have an open space between the two rear uprights whereas in our case there is the backstay that effectively divides the 'playing' space into two sections. Bear in mind that your rod will be clear, aft of the structure, while you are reeling in.

Right, after a few different attempts and almost 3 beers i have done it.... for now anyway!

straps can easily be adjusted and stowed for fishing when not needed.
