It seems that a few people with ST60 Speed/Log have the same problem as me in that the device changes its speed units on its own when it should not.
Yesterday I noticed that it was doing it every few minutes while I watched. At the time I had my instruments on, but my ST2000+ autopilot connected to the Seatalk bus, but powered off.
I know that the ST2000+ autopilot can cause Seatalk bus problems when it is connected but unpowered (it prevents some other Seatalk devices communicating on Seatalk on my system). So then I tried watching the ST60 with the autopilot back on, and also off but physically disconnected. In both cases the ST60 units did not change again.
So is this the cause of the problem I and others have experienced? Perhaps others who have seen this problem could see if they can reproduce it by having an unpowered but connected autopilot on their Seatalk system.
