ST60 Log not working

Yours is a bit neater than mine, which is on a remote cable:

As an update on this topic. Some good news and bad

I checked the temperature over the xmas break and it was and it was reading 40 something degrees so I bridged the terminals for brown and white wires as suggested with a 10k resistor and it changed to 20 something degrees.

So to fix this for real I ordered some 10k thermistors from Ebay

5psc NTC Thermistor 10k MF52-103 temperature sensitive resistor 704078393827 | eBay

Now if I bridge the same terminals with one of these the temp reading is amazingly accurate and responsive, so the temp problem has been solved. The plan was to now splice one of these into the wiring next to the log itself and bond it to the hull below the waterline. It wont be 100% accurate but should then give a representative temperature reading.

The bad news however is that even though the temperature is correct the log still doesn't work.

Any more ideas or do I have to bite the bullet and buy a new transducer. Some one did mention a reset by the way, how is this done is there anything clever I need to know?

Thanks again everyone for your help with this.

Ian

Very probably you did this, but in case not be aware that the log only starts working again after the resistor/thermistor is connected after a reboot. Power down the entire Raymarine instrument system, wait a moment (a few seconds is probably enough but a minute worn't hurt) and turn back on. Then test the speed sensor. Don't leave any bit of it, or anything connected to Seatalk, powered up.

Power down for at least a minute!
