Has anyone ever had any experience in mending the light in an Autohelm/Raymarine ST50 display?

Our ST50 Wind instrument works well, except the light has stopped.

So, I got this from Raymarine:

I am afraid that we can no longer offer any kind of repair to the ST50 range of instruments, we discontinued this many years agao and we have no spare parts.

Fair enough. The item is probably 24 years old, at least. But: has anyone here got any idea if it is possible to open the unit up and replace the light?

This YouTube video shows an ST50 tridata being dismantled. I would imagine your wind instrument would be the same construction. Hopefully the broken light is a simply soldered onto a PCB and a bit of careful desoldering /soldering a replacement led is all that is needed.

No, but I do have an ST60 wind display which I’ve been meaning to put on the for sale section, just too lazy to work out what to charge. I assume the anemometer is compatible st1 type stuff. If you need it it looks like £100 + postage would be reasonable?

you could talk the Tinley Electronics in Lymington for a cost of repair.
Tinley replied tootsweet to an email. Great.

It sounds like the bare minimum will be £110, so Lusty's offer of an ST60 sounds interesting (I need to find out if a) it is compatible with the current sender, b) if it fits on the pod (size-wise) and c) assume it is actually working.

Anyhow, I am off sailing now... I'll mull it over.
