My wheel pilot keeps dis-engaging when turning the wheel. I have tried adjusting the belt tension but whether it is very tight or loose it still has the problem. Am I missing something?

I had this problem on mine. I took the wheel drive unit off and everything inside it was worn, so I replaced it with a new unit. It came very quickly from Yachtbits and was a simple replacement. It needed holes drilled in the new unit to match up with the wheel spokes and the wiring connected into the existing plugs. All in all a couple of leisurely hours.

Belt is prob stiff with age (like me). Replace it.

Clutch roller is probably gummed up with grot, belt shold run freely over it, it it does not then it will tighten the lever in one direction and loosen it in the other. Try a warm hose or strip and grease it.

I took it apart yesterday and today phoned yachtbits for a quote for clutch kit, handle kit and new belt. Hopefully they will all be available and not too expensive.
