Should the ST4000 wheelpilot have a constant 12v feed (bypassing the master switch)? Every time i use it i have to reset rudder gain and response. Or am i not setting it properly?

Mine doesn't have a permanent supply (tiller pilot version), but still keeps the settings. Is there an internal battery?

You can set the permanent values through the set up menus, but can adjust the response from pressing two keys (+1 and -1 I think) whilst underway to give you the flexibility with different sea states etc. Which are you having to do?

There should be no need to bypass the master switch, though when mine was installed (on a new boat) the original installer powered it off the 12 volt feed from other Raymarine instruments. Had some trouble till it was given a decent 12 volt supply, but still via the master breakers.

That must be the problem. I'm setting it with the +1/-1 buttons. Thanks.
