Re: St Vaast Food Any Comments please??

Hi Nick...We'll be there Friday if you say it's that good!!
Plan is
Overnight Thursday to St Vaast ( If I get in after last year's cockup)
Eat there Friday night.
Market for the lasses on Sat am,
Pm or as soon as they'll let me go round to Cherbourg to meet up with other CSC members.
Then back to Blighty on the Monday
So I take it that The Fuschia is the tree to fall into?? And no Speeches or even recitation this time!!
Cheers Bob E..

Fucias isalways verybusy and if there is a party of 40 already booked, there's a real chance youj won't get in. It's almost always advisable to book there during the season.

I've not been there recently but I have eaten well at the Cafe du Port

You'll need to phone ahead and book as its small and pop with locals (ie the resident english, not the yotties!)

I've eaten in most of the apart from Fushias. Reality is they're all good.

Le Channel was basic but good fun with moules et frites to die for.

I do remember some odd people at the bar - eyes on different levels, 1 tooth that sort of thing - but none the worse for that!

Magic

Never had a problem if you book at lunch time for the evening or you eat early enough. But he is open to bribes of sailing club burges to add to his collection.

That's odd, they remember a condescending git from England in oilies. Perhaps it was a different restaurant.

chasee maree highly recommended nice little restauranrt bit tightly packed, no smoking throughout and fairly cheap, good for eveneing meal, not exp at all. Ask if they will give you a creme brulee for starters instead of the normal do. Then see if you can have two cremes brulee for main course, and finish with a creme brulee.

fuschia is a bit of an event place, evenings probably best with more than a few. The restaurant on the marina is v good value for lunch.

plenty of brits swarm around the place - I hear some retired navy veterans went on a reunion visit there, only to be greeted with brit types shrilly squawking "come away dear let's not stay here there's a man there with one tooth" or something like that...
