St. Tropez - What a dump!

My Mate Stavros

he have a whole lotta shops around the Cote called Le Coeur Bab .

Cheap, cheap .... guaranteed fatty lamb imported from London.

Nice has got several, you will have found Falefel ( or whatever its called) .

I hate to shatter the illusion that you can't get a Doner in St Trop  but I think you'll find "Kebabs et Grecs" there is just what you are looking for ;)

Alternative ... jump in boat .. Head South a couple of hundred nms then 90 to Port .... up a bit hey presto .. Kebab Lands !

Just back from a short shore based break in the SOF. Not my favourite place at the best of times (France that is!)Taken by friends to St. Trop' and what a dump it is.

In all fairness to your friends; they obviously chose St Trop on the basis you didnt like France so at least they were trying to help! ;)

Hi Jimmy -- No , at home tonight. I was there after the Boat Show today ( sorry I didn't realise you were down) and had to come back to do some "real'' work.

Are you going to show tomorrow? Late Night (and parties !!) .. and staying on boat obviously tomorrow.

Also we have an Aqua-Vac on board -- would that help ? . Edit -- Aqua-Vac not related to beer or any internal problems from dodgy rosy, but in response to your water problems !!

Hang on a minute. That's NB's Aqua-Vac. And i know why he bought it. You don't want it within a mile of your water tank. The backstory is messier than Muckyfarter after Haydn blew up the bog :D

I only got here at about 5pm, after a typically disappointing BA flight (late, again, and yet again I got bounced out of my allocated seat...). Haven't decided what I'm doing yet tomorrow. Definitely planning to be at show on Sat pm.

Ref aqua vac, thanks but in the light of jfm's comments ... no thanks! :D

Cheers

Real time kebabery: I am in the kebab shop recommended by jrudge. I have ordered an assiette mixte, with chips, obviously. Apparently I am getting salade, homos, kafta, chawarma poulet. And chips. Oh, and beaucoup de chilli sauce.

The excitement is almost too much to bear. With banality of this magnitude, I should be on twitter ffs.

Cheers

AArrgghh damn .. nearly got rid of it ...

correction ..... I bought it but I also know why .. but (honestly) thought never used for intended purpose as the then owner wanted to leave a gift

. Why do people with money go to these cr*&p holes?
Not to mention that you have to slip the harbourmaster a wad of Euros on top of the mooring charges to get in there. Must admit, St Trop wouldn't be one of my favourite harbours in the Med either

I am now worried that 10 seconds on google has become a recommendation!!

The good news is that if it turns out to be no good and the khazi gets blocked you know where to get an aqua vac!

Enjoy

This thread has been mentioned many times, could somebody please point it out to me? Blowing up the bog.:)

St Tropez

Well I have always liked St Tropez and Pampelonne beach and Club 55 (very reasonable), Tahiti Beach (rip your wallet our of your hands), and other restos on the beach.

The market in place des Lices, one of the best in Provence held twice a week is delightful, as are the bars and restos in that square. Good places for provisioning abound, and one of the best clothes sales on earth is held in October. It is also quite fun to sit on the front with a drink at Senequier and people and boat watch.

You can of course drop a scad load of cash on top if you have a mind. It doesn't have to be like that it can be done more reasonably, especially out of season when the prices fall.

I was always able to book a berth in the inner harbour for the alloted three nights at a time and no bribery involved at all. The trick was to book early in the year.

Things have now somewhat changed and now it is even more equitable as I understand to get in. I go with friends who have no trouble getting in, now finding that no bribes are required. They stay outside the Capitainerie and even lazy lines have now been fitted there, save using an an anchor.

St Tropez is a fun place and that is how it sells itself....so it is busy in the height of the season and prices are hiked from Good Friday onwards. They drop again come September.

Perhaps as JFM suggested a more knowledgeable entertainments manager is required. But on the other hand each to their own. AIMHO.

Marbella is exactly the same, can't understand the attraction at all.

You'd have been better of on the East coast UK.

Mablethorpe is especially nice this time of year. You can get tatoos done whilst signing on and playing bingo, all at the same time. Who said us men can't multi-task ?

I want to go to St.Tropez to see Brigitte Bardot passing by with her Riva Aquarama, and she passes by I wave my hand to her.

And in Capri to see Sofia Loren pass in her wooden Aquarama like Possilipo. And do again the same.

It is a pity that today you will see a lot of babes looking as good as these in these areas, but to do you will need to fork many EUROS.

LoL this why these places are famous and they are permitted to steal....

Ehhh that is the real NEW millenium bug and the fuel....

That was one of the "cult threads" in the good old days, but I'm afraid that it gost lost in the cyberspace when the forum software was upgraded.
Glad to stand corrected if anyone knows where to find it and/or kept a copy.
