I've just had an email from the company that owns St Kats and they say they are still very much open for business. Indeed I've made a booking for 2 boats for a week in August.

Daily prices have gone up to more than Imperial Wharf but the weekly rate is a great deal.

Only time will tell I guess.

I booked 8 boats in there and actually drove up to ensure no problems or misunderstandings (via a pub or two) admittedly.
Booking forms were filled in and scrutinised by dock staff....yup no problems Sir..
Two weeks later received email stating that they had Oyster Yots in that particular weekend and that there simply was no room at the inn for us .
Thanks for your interest but sod off etc.

We ended up at West India Dock saved a fortune and had less fraught time getting in and out etc.
The staff were very helpful, welcoming and actually seemed pleased to see us.
They worked out how much we owed them and sent the total bill to the club secretary a day or two later for payment.
12m boat in St Kats with power per day. £75.70
12M in West india £40.00
Our next club trip will be to West India.

Horrid people

We were booked in almost a year in advance and they saw us off. There have been a couple of threads started by folk who have been left upset by their high handed attitude

Perhaps they are realising the error of their ways

Not sure if the cock up or conspiracy theory is in action at St Kats.

.....and worse, actually gave them sight of your good self :)

In case anybody is having difficulty with that concept ..
If you remember Charles Atlas advert ......I am the "before" bloke :)

I suspect that as they are fairly full then if they suddenly get an offer of an event they have to cancel bookings. Not fair but a central basin full of Oyster yachts makes more commercial sense than our little mooring fees. Harsh reality of St Kats becoming popular.

Quite a few more events on than in previous years judging by the calendar on their website.

The entire basin was full of large corporate event and hotel barge type craft when we went there.
The East Dock from first glance had a larger number of boats that appeared ideal for living aboard as opposed to moving anywhere.
Still a suspicion that they could have squeezed in a half dozen boats into a few nooks and crannies somewhere, perhaps they have an insurance limit on numbers of boats in there.

So your booking is not firm, more like a standby booking... you will get in IF they don't get a more lucrative booking!

It's always a possibility. I went to the horses mouth and contacted the managing agents, that run the marina, for my booking rather than the marina reception. We shall see.

St kats farce

You have done well to get a booking we have been trying since Feb. actually visited on a visited to London spoke to a very nice guy. Was told no problem fill in the on line form. We did. No reply! Emailed again in April. It took them a fortnight to reply. No room at the inn. Another email offering a three week slot when we could go in late July / August. Still no joy. We are on a waiting list! Huh I think not. Terrible customer service. I would now be wary of going, in case we went all the way up the Thames and got turned back. St Kats will realise in years to come they need us more than we need them.

The on line booking has always been worse than useless as long as it has been available and in the early days the FAX was not much better.
Getting through on the phone boiled down to you having been going in there for so many years that you knew exactly which couple of hours during the day to ring the office, in order for somebody to pick up the phone and reluctantly scribble down your reservation.

Please Please ST Kats...GET YOUR DUCKS IN ROW....IT IS 2014 and any company that could afford to borrow the sort of money that gets some prime London real estate on its portfolio really ought to able afford a basic booking system.
We do not mind being told you cannot fit us in it just the uncertainity of it all that sucks.
Yours with affection OG
