St Katherines

St Kats

Had the same problem a couple of weeks ago so booked Gallion Point, as we came through Tower Bridge called them on Channel 80 and they answered immediatly. Perhaps they have had the phone turned onto silent!

Shirlian, quick tip my dear, look at his/her avatar to find out if raggie or mobo - hehehehehehehehehehe

St Kats were telling people the other weekend though that if they didn't have a space booked , they weren't coming in . It can be busy on summer weekends.

I certainly wouldn't go without a confirmed booking , although i guess you could divert to Limehouse if they wouldn't let you in.

Just arrived at St Kats today, we were booked but it was definately a case he who dared got in, whatever you do don't those pesky yachties get in front just barge straight in and ask questions later.

Ron was not on duty and there was no attempt to marshall any boats in, they didn't even respond on the radio.

Absolutely baking hot in here feels like the Med, was worth the stressfull entrance and swmbo feeling sick bobbing about outside.

And the above sums up the great failing of St Kats, it is very badly run far too often. I remain amazed at this and cynically assume that the operators must have a reason for this.

A great pity as its a lovely place when at its best.

Might is right

And the above sums up the great failing of St Kats,

What is it with yachties and that first lock in of the day...................

The first lock out of the day is more important! 4 to 5 Knots max through water means punching tide needs to be minimised to get to the Medway or Holehaven.

Quite fun watching others trying to keep station outside, I try to get set up so it appears effortless. (cue swan analogy)

Rant: However despite booking early (January for May) and arriving a day later at their request (in early May) and the confirmation radio message was acknowledged as I was making up river. I was then kept waiting for over an hour outside whilst various clubs arrived and were ushered in first by club. Seriously wondering if it is worth doing again. endrant
