St Katherines Dock

My point is , how do you get to 100 percent rise .. in a year ? Not 50 years like your pint ..

And if your home marina raised their prices by this .. how would you take it ??

If you can't afford boating you'll need to get another hobby, (or just do it somewhere cheaper) I don't suppose the marinas will miss you whilst there are others (and there seem to be plenty) who can afford it.

Great reply … I can afford boating thanks …
I just can’t stand price gouging of any kind ..
again I’ll ask …. How would you feel if your home marina put its prices up by 100 percent? And every marina around d did the same …

Thanks, I thought so too

It you can afford it I suggest you pay up and stop whining like an RAF Officer who's been told he has to walk.

Like any consumer good or service I'd take a view as to if it was worth paying and what the alternatives are.

Spoken like a true politician…

On our last visit the prices had gone up but certainly not by 100% .
A single night is now £189 but with the current 3 nights for two offer it worked out at £126. PN.
They have also reintroduced the 5 or more boat group discount of 10%.
Cannot be bothered to dig out the previous visits bill but it was about £140 a night and no discounts
Not that much change in price for any 3 night visit ?
Those lock gates need to be paid for and can understand that encouraging folks to stay longer makes good business sense.

West India Lock.
Tariff for single 12 M boat is about £1500.00 but that does include lifting the Blue Bridge which brings the A1206 to grinding halt.

Having lived on the Isle of Dogs for many years, thankfully these days the Blue Bridge doesn't seem to lift all that often - not massively surprising given the price!

Between a Lock and hard place.
At LW most leisure craft could get under the Blue Bridge, even flybridges . However rumour is that those ancient gates need some bouyancy ie. water around them to open and shut without to much stress, hence preferred opening and shutting around HW.
Have been to couple of ATYC rallys in there and in Ye Olden days of Yor did arrange a club visit for about 12 boats which they were happy to do in those days.

Are you saying that St Kats raised its annual berthing prices for 12 month contracts by 100% in one change?
I’m not … we like to berth our 10m for a month in September and when I asked this year how much . £2200.00 .. up from £1000 the previous year ….
An absolute 1 st world problem I know

It doesn't really matter how I, or you, or anyone else feels about it.
All that matters is if people continue to pay or not. If they do then st. Kats will have found the market price and be quids in. If they don't then st. Kats will lose out, the commercial manager get a bollocking and they will drop prices until people pay again. It's the market.

Right. Well I understand the point. It’s a big jump. But I do think the £1000 for 30 nights in London is very cheap, under £35 per night, so this looks like a realistic realignment albeit to your detriment.
Yes I agree with it being cheap … if it was like for like with a hotel … but factoring in fuel and general “ boating “ costs … anyway .. I’m going off point ,,
I’m just put out that any place can put its prices up 100 percent ,,, and that it affects me and takes away what was a brilliant experience and luxury at £1000 , but makes it out of my reach at £2000
