i am thinking about popping over to st cast in the next two, three weeks.

i have looked on google earth and there doesn't appear to be any pontoons. is this right?
whats it like price wise.?...i have a 40ft boat.
i seem to remember reading about some security issues, do these still persist?
any other info would be much appreciated.

thanks in anticipation.

We were in St. Cast in August.
Very large new marina with proper security gates.
(Google Earth pics are out of date)
It was the most expensive of all of the marinas we visited in Fance - ( about 5 of them) and if I remember correctly it was 31 Euros for our 10m boat, so it's comparable(ish) with the UK marina prices.
Very nice place - you'll enjoy it.

I have been there three times this year alone, this is the third year the marina has been open.

I speant a week there in August.

For a good decription see:

Also look in the restauant section I have posted some reccomendations for St Cast.

Approaches dredged to datum -2metres i believe.

Hi,
St cast is one of my preferred places. The entrance is accessible at all states of the tide, in the season you are greeted and helped to a berth which is a finger pontoon. Yes the charges are steep, I was there last weekend and paid 40 euros for a night, and we did think that was pretty steep.

Security is now good, but we were there last march and felt very isolated, but now is ok.

Last weekend st cast was pretty dead, it's one of those towns that come alive for three months of the year and then goes back to a sleepy hole. Many of the restaurants were closed but still a few good ones.

Hope that helps.

Ps must have missed you bandit, was your august visit over the bank holiday?

I paid my first visit last weekend as well. I was really impressed, great facilities at the Marina with friendly English speaking staff and the shower block is second to very few.

Very pleasant stroll along the promenade to the fairly typical quaint French village/town. Turning right out of the Marina, there's a short walk up the hill to the coastguard watch tower which is worth doing, nice view.

We ate at Le Cafe Face at the Marina, managed to stuff our faces for less than 30 euros a head all in. I didn't think the Marina was too pricey either now they've come off peak season, think it was €24 for a 31ft boat.

Can definitely recommend it!

There. Is a cafe in the town square , recognised by White plastic chairs outside, where I noticed the locals go to. Lunch as set menu is 12 euros washed down by caraf of Rose at 10 euros, great stuff. 30 euros ahead sounds like a lot of booze, typical jerseys.

St Cast,

Ker Flore a fair walk, very good in the michelin guide I believe.

Petite Breizh, under new management excellent steaks on a wood fire and salads in main town

The above two are reccomended.

Well PS I was there from 10 to 17 Aug and we caught one fish in the marina.
Oh ok. I was in guernsey that weekend. It was so full they turned us away so I crept into elezibeth. Still paid dues etc. All good, but there was a guy in ther catching lobster and eating it. Reasonable size too.
