ST 60 Wind Pointer Just Rotates...

Mine goes all droopy in the bottom lower quadrant although the value on the repeater is fine. Don't know how old yours is, but mine is 13. The elctro-mechanicals in these devices seem to be good for a decade or a bit more, then it's replacement time. The ST60+ wind display can be bought as head only, and although a slightly different shape, will fit your old hole and connectors. Cost is about £350.

Thought you would know Nigel but you can't " callibrate " the pointer, only " align " it. It won't respond to that either.

I imagine there is a rotary encoder inside so it knows where the pointer is, or perhaps it just stores an offset. Either way, if it is partly working (the repeater is OK) then it may not be a disaster.

Have you noticed damp inside? If so, there could be a salt crystal making a spurious contact. With stuff like this the first thing I do is wash the circuit board in warm soapy water, flush with de-ionised water, (optional flush of IPA) then blow out with air and leave to dry for a few days in the boiler cupboard.

Can you still get India Pale Ale?
