My item suddenly flashes DEPTH,DEPTH..... standing the last reading during a time till recovers the normal reading.
This happens specialty in shallows waters ( - 4 mtrs ).
Any idea ?
Many thanks

It has lost its signal for some reason. This could be...

  • Interference from other electrical devices. The charging system on outboard engines seem to do this.
  • Poor connection to your transducer. Check where it goes into the back of the instrument head.
  • Poor signal reception if installed inside your hull. Sometimes oil escapes from an oil bath.
  • The transducer might just be failing as well. Difficult to diagnose without replacing it.

Thanks both.
It is a through hull transducer.Diesel engine. The alarm is (keel offset ) on 2 mtrs but the word DEPTH blinks before and connections wires to display are OK.
I think over to buy a new transducer ( about 100 pounds ) but i am afraid if it is not the fault of this part.

The handbook says that it will flash DEPTH once a second if the input info is lost. Any of the reasons above would be sufficient but also could be the composition of the bottom. Most depth sounders don't like silty mud as they can't get a good echo off it. If this happens infrequently and especially only in a similar location each time then that could be the cause.

mine did the same and the problem was the cable coming out of the transducer cannot have any movement on it. I taped the cable firmly to the transducer and that seems to have resolved the problem.

Thanks all.
Really an odd ( my friend sailors with de same ST 60 have not it ) and dangerous trouble (aground's risk ).I've put also this issue inThe Raymarine Technical Forum.
