wind direction display completed wrong - speed is ok. How should I trace the fault? Don't want to go up the mast as I am on my own. I have a spare display so could switch but
I had to replace my wind speed and direction indicator for my ST60s.
When installed it was performing all wrong. The device was calibrated according to Raymarine instructions. However this failed and I now know that it was because there was insufficient wind strength. Later the calibration was repeated in a decent wind strength and it worked as expected.
Also on my old unit, I had to calibrate from time to time as it would develop an offset.
Try the calibration programme as advised in the Raymarine manuals.
If you have a spare display it's a two min job to switch it .
Other wise as blowing old boots said , calibrate it and then once done you can fine tune it .
My suggest would be to do the fine tuning while your tied up ,
you be able set it more accurately.
Also if you look on the raymarine site there a set of reading you can take with a meter .
I’ve got ST60s and had issues three times. Once the actual direction somehow just went off and I had to use the manual to calibrate it and bring it round again. Another time the unit just went faulty but I have a few st60s spare as I bought a job lot from EBay.
Last time it was the Mast Head Unit. Initially the direction went and then then speed. The actual ST60 unit ended up being fine.
