ST 50 Speed

We spent the weekend having some great fun sailing our new (to us) Maxi on an almost deserted Morecambe Bay and although the boat sailed extremely well I don't believe we were achieving the indicated water speed of 9.4kts in 9kts of true wind.

Our ground speed at the time was about 5kts against a current of about 1kt.

Does anyone know if there is a way of calibrating this instrument?
