Ssssh I am thinking of Moving Over

Nice looking boats and i see your logic on regarding walk around decks. Not sure SWMBO would find it spacious enough.

I am hoping to take her for a sniff around various over the coming months so she can get a feel for what's out there.

I've has time to pick up a couple of magazines and surf the web.

When ever I've been on the water and "admired" a passing Motor Boat its never been a sports boat. I've always been more taken by the business like boats. Semi or displacement.

Having read up I think I can see that a well maintained petrol engine shouldn't give me any thing to worry about, certainly no more than gas does.

Some questions for anyone kind enough to get back.

Is an outboard as reliable as an inboard engine. I am used to servicing my aging diesel DIY style. I am guessing that the bigger OB with lift mech is not a DIY job. So what kind of costs and intervals?

Displacement V plaining. I can't help thinking that a displacement hullgrips the water better making berthing in any sort of cross breeze much easier.

Finally any thoughts on a Hardy Family Pilot.

I am taken by the look. Like the idea of a wheel house. I realise the cabin isn't hugh but equally with a canopy it becomes quiet roomy. Also I am used to older boats and the DIY/improvemnet side of things has alwaysd been half the pleasure.

Thanks again everyone.
