I have an active aerial and get very good reception however support design is crap Thing is about 18 inches long 11/4 diam and held at bottom with plastic moulded bracket with 2 screw holes . Mine broke off when someone thought it was a hand hold . It is now attached to standing rigging (ketch rig ) at shoulder height out of the way with plastic cable ties and looks quite snazzy. You will need fused power supply and means of shutting it off during thunderstorms etc
