SSB course near to Portsmouth

Hi all,

New boat we have purchased has an SSB radio fitted and keen to get to grips with it (legally).

So, any recommendations for an SSB/Ham radio course near Portsmouth?

Do you have an amateur SSB radio or or marine SSB? Legal requirements are quite different, marine SSB needs the LRC Long Range Certificate, which is usually done in a 3-4 day course, an amateur licence is considerably more time consuming, there is a lot more to know.

That's a marine band transceiver, so you will need the Long Range Course and will be restricted to marine channels ( the unit is pre programmed for those ).

Marine SSB, course would be interesting but when done not sure you will find anyone to talk to though unless you go very far west
