they seem good enough for general clipping purposes. e.g non-loaded fenders, etc, but I would hesitate before using them on a critical application.

I bet that on the caribeeners, the bit where the pivoting arm mates with the static side, the "teeth" are pretty bl**dy sharp.
 
no it isnt 316 cos what makes it 316 is the molybdenum not the chrome or nickel which are the 18% and 10% bits respectively.
